A lot of eastern storytelling is built around metaphor and symbolism and this one speaks to children and their imaginations caught in the industrial/military school system for the state. I love the part where the monster become school backpacks. Try to see past the relentless boogers on the kid.

The Halsteadarian: Chronicles of the Colne Engine, a Steampunk action adventure film. The definitive cut of this Steampunk adventure film will be premièring Feb 13th 2011 at the Rose City Steam Punk Film Festival of Portland Oregon and then there will be a UK based première to follow in the summer.
